Edifiée en 1889-1890, la gare était, dans le domaine architectural ferroviaire, l'un des plus beaux exemples de l'époque du Chemin de fer et port de La Réunion, avec ses colonnes caractéristiques, son toit en bardeaux et ses lambrequins. A l'origine, le terminus de la ligne à Saint-Pierre se situait sur le boulevart Hubert Delisle. Dès octobre 1890, la direction du chemin de fer déplace son terminus afin qu'il soit placé près du port. Servant actuellement de cadre à un café après avoir abrité la bibliothèque, le bâtiment a perdu l'inscription Saint-Pierre qui était portée sur ses façades. Les colonnes cannelées restent encore visibles.Classement monument historique :
